EQS 120 Equine and Stable Management IThis course has laboratory or studio fees

A hands-on introduction to daily stable operations in the care and management of horses. Students gain practical experience in basic horse husbandry, horsemanship, and stable management. Topics include feeding, watering, stable sanitation, vaccines, parasite control, safety, horse behavior, health, wounds and their treatments, and recordkeeping. 

1 hour lecture, 4 hours laboratory.

Prerequisite(s)

Concurrent enrollment in EQS 105. Prior to enrollment, students must meet the following requirements: 1) score of 75% or higher on horsemanship practical entrance exam, 2) passing evaluation of their horse during the entrance exam, 3) documentation of current vaccines and negative Coggins test, and 4) acceptance into the equine program.
