PMD 205 Paramedicine VI*
This course offers advanced education in the care of trauma patients within the prehospital setting, emphasizing advanced management techniques. Before beginning their capstone, students will explore the transition from BLS to ALS providers, with a focus on EMS systems, public health, workforce wellness and safety, communication, and medical, legal, and ethical principles. These concepts are applied and reinforced as students assume team leader roles in their capstone experience. The course concludes with preparation for dynamic challenges, including mass casualty incidents, hazmat situations, terrorism, and disaster response, with an emphasis on incident command, transportation operations, crime scene awareness, and rescue operations.
2 hours lecture, 14 hours laboratory.
